Miller Music Management is an artist management company established in 2006 by Carrie Hustler (formerly Carrie Miller). Carrie also runs the Music PR company, Carrie Hustler Music Promotion.

Back story:
Having spent all her money and youth listening to music, buying cassettes and vinyl and attending concerts, her mother once said, “I hope you have a career in this industry where you’re spending all your money!”… and so she did.

Growing up in Los Angeles, Carrie attended Loyola Marymount University, where she got her first taste of the music industry with internships at Triple X Records (Promotions Assistant) and 4AD Records (Marketing and Radio Promotions Assistant) where she assisted on the very successful Birthday Party / The The re-issue marketing campaign.  During this time, she was a radio DJ (and Sales/Promotions Director) at KXLU Radio, which at the time was voted the number 1 college radio station several years in a row by Rolling Stone magazine.

After graduating LMU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Marketing and Business Law, the music business experience gained during this time lead to her next role at EMI-Capitol Music as Senior Licensing Co-ordinator where a couple of highlights were compiling and clearing the most successful covermount CD for Rolling Stone magazine at the time and meeting and getting a kiss on the cheek from old blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.

It wasn’t long before the UK came calling and she was transferred to EMI Records UK in London to take over the role of International Licensing Administrator and International Dance Licensing Manager. During this time, she forged excellent relationships with the artists and their managements and continued to strengthen her understanding and knowledge of contracts and music law and completed the biggest ever synch deal in Australia with Blur’s “Song 2” in a Toyota advert, which subsequently won many advertising awards.

She then moved over to Universal Music International as Senior Licensing Manager, Strategic Marketing.  She was responsible for building relationships with International repertoire owners, other major label partners, artists and managements with frequent visits to Universal’s main headquarters in Baarn, Netherlands and to the LA/NY Universal offices to meet with the heads of the labels to find ways to improve clearance procedures, etc.

In early 2004 she was headhunted to be Licensing Manager at Hed Kandi over at the Jazz FM offices. After a couple of successful years she was asked to help start up a brand new label with Hed Kandi’s founder, Mark Doyle. Tokyo Project eventually turned into the successful house label, Fierce Angel Records where she continues to help Mark with all things licensing.

From here she went to work with the newly joined forces of PIAS Recordings and Wall of Sound as Business Affairs Manager, where she negotiated the signing of new artists, to both exclusive and licensing deals, including The Gossip (who eventually signed with Sony), Shy Child and Reverend & The Makers. She also worked as A&R Co-ordinator, working closely with the Senior A&R team and being the main liaison between label and artist managements for the likes of Reverend & The Makers, Shy Child, Elektrons, Infadels and Amp Fiddler, amongst others.

Carrie then moved to the very successful independent label, Eye Industries, where she took over as Label Manager. Along side the label manager duties, she worked closely with Brighton favourites and Eye indie band, My Federation, and their management team and was part of their successful James support tour. At this time she also met and had the pleasure of working with the ever talented Lisa Lindley-Jones/Dark Horses. She helped organise the recording of Dark Horse’s debut album in the famed Key Club Studios in Michigan, US and helped with tour manager duties on the Dark Horses support of the mighty Kasabian during the Summer of ’09.

It was during this time she thought of starting up her own business and managing bands and with that Miller Music Management was born.

Miller Music Management also offers representation to labels to artists, for licensing and synchronisation. Labels/artists include Fierce Angels, MoreHouse Records, Kinetic Music Group, Shifty Music, DJ/producer Chris Coco and singer/songwriter Topher Mohr. Previous clients include 19 Management, Universal Music, Southern Fried Records and Rough Trade to name a few.

Carrie also offers a music PR service via the company Carrie Hustler Music Promotion.
